TOUGH

This is a 5 day walking trip in the Dolomites walking around the “King of the Dolomites”,  Antelao, which at 3,264m towers above the town of Cortina D’Ampezzo and is the second highest mountain in the Dolomite range. The walk will involve a night in a mountain hut (refugio) and also an opportunity for those that wish to, and accompanied by a local guide, to climb the mountain in the morning.

Itinerary

  • Drive by minibus to Pieve di Cadore (882m) to the hotel. Dine in Cortina D’Ampezzo.

  • South west of Antelao for the start of the walk. 5-6 hour walk to Pieve di Cadore for a second night at the hotel.

  • About a 5-6 hour

  • An early start for those that wish to climb to the summit of Antelao. Approximately 6 hours up and down, accompanied by a local guide. Descend to San Vito di Cadore, together with the non climbers. Drive back to hotel in Pieve di Cadore.

  • Return to Marco Polo airport, Venice, for return flight. Alternatively people may want a night in Venice and flight on a later date.

 

Additional information 
Clients should arrive at Marco Polo Airport by 1400 hrs on Wednesday 26 July. Simon will pick you up and drive you in a private minibus to the hotel in Pieve di Cadore. The journey takes around 2 hours.  Late comers can take the Airport-Cortina bus which stops in Cadore. The hotel is the 4 star hotel Belvedere.
