Annapurna Sanctuary

Annapurna Sanctuary

CHALLENGING

The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is one of the most scenic treks in Nepal.  The range forms a natural amphitheater known as the Annapurna Sanctuary.  Here lies the base camp for most of the Annapurna summit expeditions.   The sanctuary is ringed by the peaks of Annapurna 1, Glacier Dome, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhare. Annapurna is the 10th highest peak in the world.  The highest peak, Annapurna 1 was first climbed by a French team led by Maurice Herzog in June 1950.   Our itinerary takes in Ghorepani and Poon Hill before joining the main trail in Chomrong and provides good acclimatisation.  The walking begins through jungle and forested hillsides,  abundant in natural springs (and an opportunity to bathe in them), before arriving at the Sanctuary and its incredible panoramic views.
