Climbing Vignemale and the Pyrenees

Climbing Vignemale and the Pyrenees

France/ Spain - 1990

My second expedition with a great group of soldiers from my army days. A lot of lessons learnt in terms of what can be achieved in the mountains. We carried heavy army adventure training tents and camped during the weeks trip. Cirque de Gavarnie was memorable and so was the Ossoue glacier under the mighty looking Vignemale 3300m. On its descent we had a dramatic crevice accident culminating in one of the team being helicoptered to the hospital in Tarbes.
