Autumn was a superb season to visit to the northern Albanian town of Theth and the Albanian Alps, bordering on Montenegro. We stayed at the furthest most gite we could find run by Rita and her mother, complete with their own cow, chickens and dog surrounded by a high cirque of jagged ridges. On one of our days we climbed Maja Ukut 2445m for great views either side of the border.
